RIP Robert Byrd

Sheets is gone, and now the Republican Governor of Virginia gets to replace him.    Obama is having a temper tantrum.

Unfortunately, it's democrat governor Manchin of West Virginia.  But he'll be cautious.  He doesn't want another Blago-esque fiasco.  Besides, one moron democrat ex-governor on the Celebrity Apprentice is enough.

My Bad,  I keep forgetting Senator Sheets was from West Virginia.

 hopefully we won't have to endure three days of nauseating public mourning like we did for teddy "the lion of the senate" kennedy.

At least the mourners should have sense enough to leave the bed linens at home.

 i saw parts of clinton's speech at the memorial. he excused byrd's exalted cyclops status by saying that he was only doing what he had to to get elected.

would love to see a reporter ask bill that had he been born a generation earlier, would he have become a kluxer, so that he could get elected and serve the greater good?

...had Bill Clinton been in Germany in the late 'twenties or early 'thirties, would he have joined the Nazi party to get ahead? I think he probably would have - maybe he would have even joined the SS. This guy is a political careerist and political careerists will do anything to get ahead.
